Gulf Cobla gears to reclaim land for Faresmaathodaa airport

Dubai-based Gulf Cobla has prepared to commence the land reclamation project for the airport to be developed in Faresmaathodaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The machinery and tools needed for the project is provided by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Gulf Cobla was contracted to reclaim land for the airport in Faresmaathodaa for USD 2.5 million.
An area of 18 hectares of land will be reclaimed as part of the project. While the vehicles and machinery for the project were sent to Faresmaathodaa in July, the contractors has now began installing bund wall in the area to be reclaimed.
The Faresmaathodaa Airport will be developed with a 1,200 kilometre runway, an apron and a passenger terminal.
