Government will fulfill people's needs, not foreign entrepreneurs: President

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has underscored the government always caters for the best interests of the people of Maldives.
Addressing the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development and shore protection in Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, President Abdulla Yameen stated projects carried out by foreign parties have not always been in the best interest of the people and it is the government that always caters for the people.
Speaking at the ceremony, the president highlighted the importance of actively involving youth in the process of nation-building and stated that the administration has seen drastic reduction of youth involvement in major crimes as a result of its efforts made towards youth empowerment. Emphasising the priority given to youth empowerment by the administration, President Yameen noted the importance of providing employment opportunities and stated more than 7,000 jobs have already been created for the youth within the past 5 years. Speaking in this regard, President Yameen said his objective for the next 5 years is to boost the GDP per capita from USD 10,000 to USD 20,000.
Moreover, during the trip to Kulhudhuffushi, the president participated in the ceremony to mark the completion of road development and the shore protection by unveiling the monument placed to mark the completion of the projects.
