Ministry of Health increases the salaries of nurses

Ministry of Health has increased the salary of nurses. The salary of nurses has been increased by 15% with the introduction of the new salary structure, stated the health ministry.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new employment framework for nurses enables them to attain higher studies easily and also increases their salary. The ministry stated, the new framework was designed to ensure nurses are given the opportunity to achieve sufficient training since it is important to maintain the quality of nurses across Maldives.

The new framework, effective from August 1 highlights, every nurse must be given an increment every two years based on their services and education. In addition, the framework also notes the importance of trying to introduce specialist nurses and to promote the nurses to specialize in various areas.

The new employment framework for nurses was formulated jointly by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council with relevant technical assistance and extensive discussions.
