Major land reclamation projects in the pipeline for second term: Housing Minister

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has decided to solve the issues faced due to lack of living space in islands by conducting major land reclamation projects, if he secures a second term in office.
Various projects initiated by the government to solve issues faced by insufficient land across the country, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted revealing the decision of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on a programme aired on PSM News. In this regard, Housing Minister Muizzu noted the government has commenced land reclamation projects in 15 islands.
Moreover, the housing minister expressed the president, if given a second term in office, has decided to commence major land reclamation projects in islands with insufficient land. Crucial projects are in the pipeline to solve the housing issues faced in Maldives, attaching importance to the islands most in need, stated the minister.
Since he assumed office in 2013, President Yameen has conducted major development projects to solve the housing issues faced in Maldives. It is notable the largest social housing scheme was also introduced by the current administration. The project was initiated in Hulhumale' to provide affordable housing for a population of over 100,000 people.
