Maldives congratulates Indonesia on 73rd Independence Day

The government of Maldives has sent felicitations to Indonesia on the jubilant occasion of its 73rd Independence Day. Commemorating the Independence Day of Indonesia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim sent a message of felicitations to his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi.
In his message, the foreign minister extended sincere congratulations on the jubilant occasion of the Independence Day on behalf of the government and the people of Maldives. Noting Maldives and Indonesia share a close relationship, Minister Asim expressed confidence the cooperation that exists between the two countries will be further strengthened and developed in the years ahead. The minister extended hope to working with Retno Marsudi to further strengthen and expand bilateral relations, to serve the shared interests.
Maldives and Indonesia established diplomatic relations on September 2, 1974. Since then, both countries have remained close partners and neighbours. Indonesia was the 22nd country to establish diplomatic relations with Maldives.
