Home minister advises to ensure place of residency before presidential election

Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed has advised the public to ensure the place of residency to avoid any last minute chaos before the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Home Minister Azleen noted the importance of ensuring the place of residency of the citizens who have changed their place of birth or other personal information. Moreover, the home minister urged the public to ensure the correct details are on official documents such as the national identity card.
Noting that major difficulties are faced for people who change their residency in attaining public services, the home minister added special teams from Ministry of Home Affairs will visit the islands to ensure the correct details are on the official documents and offer assistance to the public.
Over 95,000 people have requested to re-register to another island for the presidential election to be held on September 23, according to Elections Commission of Maldives.
