Maldives has conveyed felicitations and well wished on the 72nd Anniversary of Independence of India.
In a tweet, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives extended warm congratulations and well wishes to the government and the friendly people of India on behalf of the government and the people of Maldives on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day of India.
Meanwhile, Indian Embassy in Maldives held a flag hoisting ceremony in commemoration of the 72nd Anniversary of Independence of India. During the flag hoisting ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Maldives Akilesh Mishra conveyed a message by President of India Ram Nath Kovind to the people of India residing in Maldives.
In the message, the Indian president highlighted the people from all sectors and all levels participated in securing independence for India adding women needs to be empowered in order to maintain the independence. In addition, the Indian ambassador noted the strong relations between Maldivian people and Indians living in Maldives.
Independence Day is annually celebrated on August 15, as a national holiday in India. The day commemorates the nation's independence from the UK on August 15 in 1947, when the UK Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act 1947 transferring legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly.
