Maldivian people wish for a better future: President

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has underscored the people will always look for and ask for ways to fulfil their needs for a better future.
A 5 year term is a very short period to fulfill the basic needs of the people and to complete the numerous development projects planned for the islands across the country, President Yameen stated addressing the function held to inaugurate the water supply services in Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll. In his speech, President Yameen assured to continue to focus on the prosperity of the people by fulfilling the needs of the people and completing the development projects in the islands. The president emphasised the importance of capable leaders for a brighter future for the country and bringing positive changes stressing the importance of the cooperation and support of the citizens to reach the society's common goals.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen noted that the citizens need to put forth the national harmony and peace and highlighted the need to defend national values. The president also noted the challenges faced as a result of his efforts to protect the Islamic faith and national harmony. In his speech, the president also highlighted several development projects planned, especially in the financial sector and fisheries sector, during his second term in office.
During the ceremony, President Yameen unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the water supply services in Thimarafushi.
