Environment minister says opposition have no strategy to fulfil pledges

Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has criticised opposition pledges promising to develop tourism and to enhance the livelihood of the citizens of Haa Dhaalu Atoll. During his ongoing trip to Haa Dhaalu Atoll, opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced plans to enhance the tourism in the atoll if he comes to power.
Responding to the announcement, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim expressed the pledge has no value or grounds, highlighting President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has announced to initiate tourism development projects to increase the bed capacity of Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atoll to 3000 within the next five years. In a tweet, the environment minister mentioned the opposition candidate has no strategic direction to fulfil the pledge.
During the recent trip to Haa Dhaalu Atoll, President Yameen has announced to enhance local tourism opportunities to develop the tourism sector in the region.
