Elections commission of Maldives has revealed it has completed 85% of the preparation for the upcoming presidential election.
The preparations for the presidential election is undergoing according to schedule, President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef said speaking at inauguration ceremony of the elections training programme. Ahmed Shareef noted official announcements of candidates and candidate numbers will be made on August 18.
The electoral body received a total of 3 candidacy nominations to contest in the presidential election. However, after reviewing the paperwork, the commission approved the candidacy of two candidates.
