Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has expressed gratitude following the peaceful campaigning from political parties for the upcoming presidential election.
The commission has begun preparations for the upcoming election prior to two months; Vice President of HRCM Mohamed Zaahir stated addressing the opening ceremony of the training of trainers for the presidential election. Noting that HRCM will always ensure the rights of citizens, Mohamed Zahir assured to closely monitor and observe the presidential election before, during and even after the elections.
Highlighting campaigning activities are held peacefully putting forth peace and stability, Mohamed Zahir appreciated the efforts of all political parties. In this regard, he expressed the importance of upholding basic human rights of others and to apply it is all aspects of life. Moreover, Zahir advised to be aware whether valid information are provided to authorities when participating in the voting process to avoid chaos.
