Elections commission hold discussions with police, gears up for presidential election

Elections Commission of Maldives has held discussions with Maldives Police Service to ensure the precision of the re-registration forms.
The police service will ensure fingerprints on the re-registration forms match with those of the owner, President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef stated while speaking regarding the meeting held with Maldives Police Service. The elections commission also conveyed the role of the police force in the upcoming presidential election and discussed further avenues of interest.
Moreover, discussions also focused on voter's responsibility and rights, security, complaint procedures and offences. The meeting was attended by officers from various ranks of the Maldives police force.
While the elections commission has opened re-registration opportunity, the electoral body has revealed that over 12,000 forms have so far been received. The 2018 presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
