Sewerage facility projects in 2 Islands to contracted to S.J Construction

The government of Maldives has contracted the establishment of sewerage facilities in Gemanafushi and Maamendhoo of Gaafu Alifu Atoll to S.J Construction Company Private Limited. The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim and Director of S.J Construction Shihad Ibrahim.
The project in Gemanafushi costs over USD 740,000 and the project in Maamendhoo over USD 654,000. Environment ministry revealed the projects will be funded by the state budget.
The project must be completed within 9 months and expressed hope the projects will be completed within the given timeframe, environment minister Thoriq Ibrahim stated addressing the ceremony. The environment minister called on collective efforts to overcome the challenges faced during the project works, urging the island councils and residents to cooperate with the government.
Noting President Yameen has always prioritised socially beneficial projects, the minister stated the government has achieved a lot in regards to establishing socially beneficial services in islands.
Moreover, the minister expressed the government has successfully delivered sewerage facilities to 75% of the population of Maldives.
