Ministry of Tourism has revealed tourist arrivals increased 10.5% in June compared to the same month of last year.
A total of 93,786 tourists arrived in June 2018, whereas a total of 85,222 tourist arrivals were recorded in June 2017, according to the Maldivian tourism performance report published by tourism ministry.
Most number of tourist arrivals were recorded from European countries with contributed 51.3% of the total arrivals, which is an increase of 16.3% compared to 2017, according to the statistics. Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific recorded 37.6% of the total tourist arrivals.
Moreover, 4.7% of the total tourist arrivals were contributed by America with a total of 34,234 arrivals, according to statistics. 3.2% of the tourist arrivals were from Middle Eastern countries with 23,130 tourist arrivals and 0.8% of the arrivals are from Africa with a total of 6,127 arrivals, the ministry stated.
In regard to separate markets, the most number of arrivals were recorded from China with 17.5%, with Germany contributing 8% of the total tourist arrivals in June.
