President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has revealed that GDP per capita has increased up to USD 10,000 within the past four years because of the strong economic policies of the administration. Addressing the public of Kelaa in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, President Yameen reiterated to avoid putting forth one's own agenda above the nation's interest.
In this regard, the President urged the public not to let any foreign parties to attack the sovereignty of the Maldives. Any policy or ruling that is in conflict with Islam would never be allowed in the Maldives, stated President.
Furthermore, President Yameen conveyed his confidence in the people to be determined and capable in bringing development to the country reiterating the administration was determined to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the Maldivian people. Concluding the speech, the President spoke on the importance of bringing in more investments and carrying out development projects for the progress of the country.
During the visit to Kelaa, the President inaugurated the sewerage facilities in the island and unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the services of the project. The Kelaa sewerage system is a USD 3.5 million project assigned to Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) by the government. The project included laying down sewerage pipes, establishing sewage pump stations and establishing sea outfall system.
