Home minister assures more development in customs sector

Minister of Home affairs Azleen Ahmed has stated that the government will efficiently use all resources available to enhance the services of Maldives Customs Service.
Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony held in celebration of 128th anniversary of Maldives Customs Service, home minister Azleen Ahmed highlighted Maldives Customs Service has a long and successful history, noting the importance of the service to the nation in regards to border protection and trade facilitation.
Highlighting the sector has seen many developments within the past years; minister Azleen stated various developments will be brought to the sector and to the human resources available in the service. Moreover, noting that customs plays an importance role in establishing peace in the country, minister appreciated the commendable efforts of the staff.
Meanwhile, Commissoner General of Customs Mohamed Junaid highlighted the milestone achievements of the institution appreciating the work ethics, honesty and integrity of the staff.
Maldives Customs Service operates to guard and protect the Maldives national borders from smuggling of narcotics, contrabands and against other illegal cross-border activities, by steadfastly enforcing the laws of the Maldives while fostering economic security through facilitation of legitimate trade and travel.
