Government of the Maldives has awarded scholarships for students who received high achievers award. The scholarships for 36 students were conferred by the Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham.
The government prioritises providing higher education to all students, education minister Aishath Shiham said speaking after conferring awards. The government has granted 600 educational loans to students within the past week, with 500 more loans to be introduced in the near future, revealed the education minister.
Moreover, the minister noted the opportunity to apply for the 250 scholarships granted by the government of Malaysia will also be opened within next week. The minister urged the students to serve the country sincerely upon completion of higher studies.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Education Dr. Abdulla Nazeer revealed plans of the government to introduce a tertiary student loan for students seeking higher education.
As part of the efforts to increase the number of students attaining higher education, the government has introduced scholarships and loan schemes for the students.
