A total of 47 students in Maldives have achieved first place in GCE advanced level examinations in 2017 and receive Top Achiever's Awards. The Top Achiever's Awards were presented by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge convention centre.
The Top Achiever's Award conferred by Ministry of Education was achieved by 205 students from 43 schools across Maldives. From the 205 students, 47 students achieved the outstanding first place by securing 5 A passes. While 47 students achieved first place in Top Achiever's Awards, 6 students received president's scholarship by attaining A* from 5 subjects.
Speaking at the ceremony, education minister Aishath Shiham noted the efforts of the government to advance the education sector, adding the noteworthy achievements are visible from the society with the remarkable results of the students. The number of students achieving Top Achiever's Award increases year on year, highlighted the Minister.
Moreover, in her speech, the minister noted the government assumed office with a clear manifesto focused on developing each sector, adding the most important policy established in the education sector is the all-inclusive education programme.
A total of 1,819 students participated in the October-November advanced level exams in 2017, according to education ministry.
