Maldives Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has opened voting for the nominees of the Guesthouse Edition of Maldives Travel Awards 2018. Voting will be open via online and SMS till the end of the month, according to MATATO.
The awards for Guesthouse Edition will be presented based on 60% of public votes and 40% of marks given by TripAdvisor, a U.S. based travel website. While nominations for the edition was due till the end of May, 111 corporations were nominated for 15 awards. The ceremony for Guesthouse Edition will be held in Hulhumale' in collaboration with Guest House Association of Maldives, according to MATATO.
Initiated in 2012 by MATATO, Maldives Travel Awards celebrate and honour the best tourism and hospitality products in the Maldives, while fostering relationships with suppliers and local travel agents. From 20 categories, the awards have now expanded into 3 editions totalling 55 categories.
The Guesthouse Edition celebrates the outstanding performance of the up and coming guesthouse sector.
