Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi appointed as Chief Justice

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi as the new Chief Justice of Maldives.
At a ceremony held at the President's Office, President also appointed Abdulla Didi and Abdul Ghanee Mohamed to the Supreme Court bench. The Parliament approved the 3 Judges nominated by President Yameen, during its session held last evening.
The Parliament approved the decision after reviewing it with the Committee of Institutional Review Board with a majority of 36 members.
The 3 Judges took the oath of office before Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef. Afterwards, President Yameen presented the letter of appointment to the Chief Justice and the newly appointed Supreme Court Judges.
