Maldives successfully has concluded the first ever International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM) 2018.
IMTM 2018 was attended by travel industry professionals from 18 countries. It includes tour operators, travel agencies, liveaboards, dive centres and other professionals from the industry. IMTM was held to provide a platform to meet and discuss mutual concerns in the tourism industry and to create solutions and solve the problems that the industry is facing, especially those businesses that are trying hard to thrive but are unable to attend international fairs due to the hefty cost involved.
Speaking to PSM News regarding the fair, Director of IMTM Raafil Mohamed stated 44 stalls were kept by participants from 18 countries. He revealed 40 resorts, 44 guest houses, 21 safari liveaboards and 13 travel agents participated in the market. Moreover, Raafil stated many business to business meetings were held during the fair with one pre-fixed meeting for every participant.
Organisers of IMTM revealed plans to hold the next edition during mid-2019.
