Maldives has won Best Honeymoon Destination at the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine Readers' Travel Awards 2018. Maldives won over readers of the magazine to become the first-ever winner of the accolade.
The awards managed by Luxury Lifestyle Magazine saw thousands of readers nominating some of the industry's most astonishing travel destinations and show-stopping hotels, across a variety of travel-related categories. Designed to reward the travel industry elite for excellence in a number of categories, winners were selected by an expert panel of judges. Maldives won the award by competing with Seychelles.
Commenting on the award, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) stated the award will further boost tourists from UK. Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer expressed the tourism sector of Maldives will be further boosted with several new resorts opening throughout the year.
The UK is one of the most important inbound markets for Maldivian tourism and this year with several tourism developments taking place including the expansion plans at Velana International Airport and the opening of at least 23 resort and hotels will make it a promising year for Maldives.
