Hulhule'-Hulhumale causeway to be launched in August

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed the causeway linking Hulhule' and Hulhumale' will be open for public in August. The government aims connect the transportation of Hulhule’ and Hulhumale’ with one network with the construction of the China Maldives Friendship Bridge.
While construction of the bridge is ongoing at a fast pace, government has embarked on arranging easier transportation between Hulhule' and Male' with the development of a bridge. In this regard, government imitated the causeway linking Hulhule' and Hulhumale'. The USD 23.8 million project is contracted to Hunan Construction Engineering Group of China.
Speaking to PSM News regarding the progress of the project, Managing Director of HDC Mohamed Saiman stated the main aim of constructing the bridge linking Male' and Hulhule' is easing the traffic flow adding the link road linking Hulhule' and Hulhumale’ aims to ease the transportation of travellers from airport to Hulhumale'. The four kilometre causeway will meet international standards and is designed with four lanes similar to Male' ring road and the Bridge, highlighted Saiman.
Noting that link road bus transportation is contracted to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Managing Director of HDC said a bus transit terminal will be established in Hulhumale' by the end of July. The bus transit terminal developed in Hulhumale' Waste Management Yard area will serve as a connecting point of MPL buses from the causeway and MTCC buses from Hulhumale', said Saiman.
Two shipments of bus to be operated in the causeway will be brought to Maldives by August, according to MPL.
