Construction of superstructure of housing towers underway

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated it has commenced the construction of the tower structure, following the completion of the foundation work.
The site needed to build the tower has been mobilised with construction equipment, Managing Director of HDC Mohamed Saiman said speaking to PSM News regarding the progress of the construction of the seven thousand housing units. He revealed that foundation and sheet piling of the 16 towers have been fully completed adding the construction of the superstructure of the towers are progressing at a fast pace.
The development of Hulhumale' second phase was initiated by the government to solve the congestion and housing issues faced in the capital city, Male'. The project directly connected to youth is developed similar to the concept of developed cities of the world, with the establishment of latest facilities.
While the government has embarked on developing the Hulhumale' second phase, the biggest project progressing at a fast pace is the development of seven thousand social housing units. The 16 towers consisting of 25 storey is constructed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
While works of the development of the towers are fast underway, it is notable that road construction, establishment of water and sewerage systems are also conducted without interruptions. In this regard, tarring of the main roads and installation of traffic signs has been completed.
Over 7,000 social housing units will be developed with commercial space, parking area and other recreational facilities needed for the area, according to HDC. The corporation aims to populate families in Hulhumale' second phase by the end of the year.
