Hulhumale' synthetic track open for locals

Housing Development Cooperation (HDC) has opened the synthetic track developed in Hulhumale’ for public use.
This is the first synthetic running track that which was developed in Maldives in accordance with international standards. The track developed at a cost of over USD 900,000 was funded from state budget. While the synthetic track is 400 meters long and consists of 8 lanes, it is designed in a way athletes will be able to use the track in all seasons.
Furthermore, HDC said the newly developed running track will help young athletes to practice and prepare for tournaments adding other sports facilities will also be developed in the outdoor sports arena along with the synthetic track. In this regard, a football ground, a stadium and some commercial units will be developed in the outdoor sports arena, according to HDC.
The outdoor sports arena, along with its sports facilities are being developed as part of the initiative of the government of Maldives in its efforts to provide development opportunity for youth.
