Ministry of Economic Development says the organisers expect to issue driving license to over 8,000 individuals in Male', as part of on the spot license programme initiated by government of Maldives.
The programme is well received by the public, according to Economic Ministry. The programme is initiated by Economic Ministry and Transport Authority of Maldives, in which driving licenses will be issued to those who pass from the necessary theory and driving tests. One main objective of the programme is to ensure youth are following the rules and regulations, according to the organisers.
A special programme for youth who are fined for traffic violations, as part of on the spot license programme. In this regard, a one year agreement is offered to pay the fine on a monthly basis, with the licenses will be confiscated if the agreements are not followed.
