Addu city records 27 cases of dengue fever since April

Urban Primary Health Centre in Addu City has revealed 27 cases of dengue fever have been recorded since April of this year.
The initial cases of dengue were recorded from expatriate workers in Addu city but no further case has been recorded from any other expatriate worker, Urban Primary Health Centre in Addu City told PSM News. However, cases of locals suffering from dengue fever have seen an incline over this period. In addition, the Centre revealed the maximum number of cases have been filed from the Hithadhoo of Addu city.
The Housing Department and Urban Primary Health Centre in Addu City has collaborated to carry out fogging rounds earlier this month in addition to conducting awareness programmes conducted by the health centre.
Earlier, Health Protection Agency (HPA) called to take precautionary measures to avoid getting sick during the current outbreak of fever and flu in the country. HPA urged the public to take on the civic responsibility in ensuring the precautionary measures are taken for the best outcome in combating the flu outbreak. In addition, HPA requested the public to avoid going to hospitals unless necessary and emphasised small children and old people are vulnerable to these diseases.
