Minister of Gender and Family Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has called on the importance of ideas and concerns raised by children while taking decisions relating to them.
It is important to hear and address concerns raised by children, Gender Ministry Zenysha Shaheed Zaki said addressing the closing ceremony. In this regard, Minister Zenysha called to involve children in social activities rather than constricting them with strict instructions.
It is important to acknowledge the role of children in the society. In this regard, Mohamed El Munir Safieldin applauded the administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for its efforts in ensuring the rights of children, Country Representative of United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Mohamed El Munir Safieldin said addressing the ceremony.
Gender Ministry and UNICEF have collaborated to conduct the Child Promotion Forum in both Male' city and Villigili of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. 24 students from Gaafu Alifu Atoll Education Centre took part in the forum, while 25 students from Centre for Higher Secondary Education, Villa International High School, Ahmadhiyya International School and Maldives Girl Guide Association participated from Male' city, according to information provided by Gender Ministry.
Closing of the Child Promotion forum was attended by high level dignitaries from government ministries, Maldives Police Service, Girl Guide Association and educational institutions in the capital city.
