Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has revealed the administration has invested over USD 38 million to conduct development projects in Thulusdhoo of Kaafu Atoll.
More major development projects will be initiated in the island, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim noted while addressing the groundbreaking ceremony to launch the development of the sewerage network in Thulusdhoo. Minister Thoriq noted Thulusdhoo has always been a prime focus of the administration.
The project to develop the sewerage network of Thulusdhoo of Kaafu Atoll was officially inaugurated by Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim. The sewerage network is developed under the objective of the administration to provide clean water and sewerage facilities to all citizens of the country.
President of Thulusdhoo Council Ahmed Anees thanked the administration for the vast array of development brought to the country especially to the island communities addressing the ceremony. He noted the USD 3 million funded by Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and state budget to develop the sewerage network of the island would have major positive effects on the island.
Environment Ministry contracted Sierra Construction Private Limited to complete the project in 468 days. A sewerage treatment plant and an administrative office would be established to monitor the sewerage network of the island, under the project.
