NDMC urges to stay vigilant over possible storm surges across 9 atolls

National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has urged the public to stay vigilant over possible storm surges across the Maldives.
Noting that some islands have already experienced storm surges, NDMC called on the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the effect. Storm surges may occur in 9 atolls across Maldives, according to NDMC.
Relevant authorities of Maldives are now taking necessary precautions to minimise the effect of possible storm surges. NDMC revealed 22 islands and 2 cities of Maldives have been affected by heavy rain and storm surges.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has warned of bad weather in Maldives and urged to take necessary precautions. Many parts of Maldives have been experiencing swell waves during high tide hours, according to the Meteorological Office.
