Dhanbidhoo harbour to be completed by next month

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) hasrevealed that work on developing the harbour of Dhanbidhoo island of LaamuAtoll is expected to complete by April. MTCC revealed that a large percentageof the harbor has now been completed, while work on construction of the quaywall is expected to be complete by April.

Briefing the media, Managing Director of MTCC Ahmed Husham said,the delay in developing the quay wall is caused due to difficulties in findingthe appropriate tools for the project. In this regard Husham revealed thatcurrently work on bringing the boulders to be used in the construction of thequay wall is underway.

Work on developing the 500 feet long- 250 feet wide, Dhanbidhoo harbourwas contracted to MTCC in 2015. The project is worth USD 2 million.

In addition to Dhanbidhoo, MTCC is also developing a 700 feet by 260 feet harbour at Maabaidhoo harbour. The harbour is expected to cost over USD 2.7 million.
