Foreign Minister meets with officials of several countries

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has met with several Permanent Representatives in New York, to discuss issues of mutual interest, especially with regard to the United Nations Security Council.

The Maldives is campaigning for support in its bid to become a member of the council for the 2019-2020 term. Minister Asim hosted a luncheon meeting for ambassadors of the League of Arab States.

During the meeting, Minister Asim discussed priority issues for the members of the League, including the Palestine issue, situation in Syria, and the United Nations Development System Reform. 

Minister Asim is visiting New York to speak at the High Level Meeting to launch the "International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028" hosted by the President of the General Assembly.
