President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Russia, Vladimir Putin, on being re-elected for a fourth term in office.
In the message, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, and on his own behalf, the President extended warm felicitations and earnest congratulations to President Putin on being re-elected.
Stating that the landslide victory demonstrates the trust and confidence that the people of Russia continue to place in Putin's proven statesmanship, President Yameen noted that he is convinced that under Putin's able leadership, Russia will continue to capitalise on prospective avenues on economic, political and social fronts, and accrue further leverage on the global arena.
The president expressed hope on working closely with Putin and Russia to take the relationship to even higher levels of friendship and cooperation for the mutual good and interest of the peoples of the two countries as Putin begins his new term of office.
