Maldives has conducted the 3rd Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Committee Meeting between Japan and Maldives. The JCM meeting is mandated to carryout discussions to boost projects aimed at minimising the usage of environmentally hazardous or harmful gases.
In this meeting, the delegation from Maldives and Japan held discussions on conducting JCM Renewable Energy Efficiency projects, according to organisers. These projects are aimed at minimizing the emission of harmful gases by a set amount, which is measured in carbon credits.
JCM currently conducts such projects in a total of 16 countries. 10 among these countries are from the Asia. Maldives collaborated with Japan and became a partner of JCM in 2013.
The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is a mechanism via which, Japan contributes to reduction and absorption of greenhouse gas emissions globally by establishing systems to transfer technologies and implement measures that are applicable to the situation of developing countries.
