Maldives Police Service has revealed that 139 arrests have been made in connection with Friday night's protests by the opposition.
141 protesters were initially arrested, according to Police Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan. This included 26 women and 115 men.
However, according to Superintendent Shifan, out of the 141 arrested, 139 remain in police custody now. They are 26 women and 113 men. The police however have not revealed details about the identities of those under arrest.
We have received information that among the arrested are some parliamentarians and three employees of Raajje TV.
