Tree Top hospital successfully completes first cardiac procedure

Tree Top Hospital in Maldives has successfully completed its first cardiac procedure. The procedure was performed on a 27 year old patient who is suffering from a condition known as Eisenmenger Syndrome (ES).

This diagnostic and invasive cardiac procedure was conducted to assess pulmonary artery, right and left ventricular pressures and cardiac output of the patient.

This was essential to determine if the patient is fit for further surgical treatment. The procedure was lead by Interventional Cardiologist at Tree Top Hospital Dr. Pietro Gaetano and was assisted by a skilled team of cardiac nurses. The procedure was also observed by Non-Invasive Cardiologist Dr. Borejda Xhyeri. After the surgery, Dr. Gaetano expressed that the procedure went well and that they managed to complete the assessment without any complications

Director of Medical Services and Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Tree Top Hospital Dr. Roland Fasol noted it is an important milestone for Tree Top Hospital in establishing Cardiology as a super specialty and elevating inpatient care as a whole. Dr. Roland Fasol assured commitment to providing the best cardiac procedures, so that patients can get the care they need close to home.

Eisenmenger Syndrome (ES) is a severe form of pulmonary arterial hypertension and arises on the basis of congenital heart disease. ES primarily affects adolescents and adults with heart defects that are repaired at a later stage of the disease or has never been repaired before.

Tree Top Hospital aims to provide access to state of the art facilities and to improve the way in which cardiovascular diseases are treated in the Maldives.
