Maldives assures confidence in paying loans attained for dev.

The government of Maldives has been conducting major development projects under loans and grant aid from different countries.

At a press conference held to brief the international media about the current situation of Maldives, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed assured the government have full confidence the loans attained by international stakeholders can be paid back.

The Maldivian Economic Minister gave assurances the country will not face debt as all the projects are revenue based projects. Minister Mohamed Saeed said all the projects will further boost the economy, highlighting that it is the main aim of the government answering a question regarding the loans.

Furthermore, Economic Minister Saeed said loans are attained for huge infrastructure projects with a low-interest rate and noted some of the funds are grant aids from international development partners. The Minister called on all countries and international developers to invest in Maldives, noting that investment opportunities are not only open for India or China.

During the press conference, representatives of the administration briefed international journalists on the current situation in the Maldives. The press conference comprising of two sessions was held at the President's Office. The press conference was attended by journalists from 10 news agencies.
