Ambassador of Maldives to UAE Dr. Hussain Niyaaz has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE Dr. Anwar M. Gargfash.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Dr. Niyaaz expressed appreciation from the Government of Maldives for the continuous assistance and support of the Government of UAE to the socio-economic development of Maldives, and discussed about matters of mutual interest to both countries.
In addition, Ambassador Dr. Niyaaz briefed the UAE's State Minister about the current political situation in Maldives, and gave assurance that the State of Emergency declared in Maldives does not have any implications for those travelling to Maldives on holiday.
Furthermore, Ambassador Dr. Niyaaz conveyed warm greetings to the State Minister Anwar, as this year will mark the 40th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In his remarks, the Minister of State reiterated the importance of the strong relations between the two countries and reassured that the UAE government will continue to extend its support to the development of Maldives.
Third Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives Ismail Niyaz was in attendance at the meeting.
