Fuvahmulah's water an sewerage system to be completed this month

Fuvahmulah City Council has revealed that the project to establish a water and sewerage system in the city would be completed and tah the system would be in operation this month.

The City Council said, the contractor is currently conducting work on installation of water pipes and a vacuum pump station.

In 2016, Sierra Maldives Private Limited was contracted to complete the project within a period of 21 months. In addition to funds allocated in the state budget, the government of Kuwait has provided a grant aid of USD 11.3 million for the project.

Under the project, a reverse osmosis system which can produce 500 tonnes of water will be established in Fuvahmulah City.
