IAC organises fund raising events in various parts of Maldives

International Aid Campaign (IAC) organises various activities to raise fund for Ghouta Emergency Fund in Maldives.

The charity has launched a nation-wide campaign with the affiliation of various other local non-governmental organisations and noted only financial aid would be accepted. In this regard, various fund raising events were held in multiple islands of Maldives.

IAC has opened Ghouta Emergency Relief Fund in Maldives to help the Muslims suffering in the Syrian city of Ghouta. The emergency relief fund, which is open for 15-days, would close on March 11, according to the organization.

The situation in the besieged Syrian enclave of eastern Ghouta had become grave for children and aid is needed urgently, according to United Nations children's agency (UNICEF). The military campaign has killed more than 900 civilians since it began on February 18, according Britain-based war monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

For the 400,000 people living in eastern Ghouta, the assault has come after years of siege that has caused shortages of food and medicine. Residents are holed up in basements and medical charities decried attacks on a dozen hospitals, as the United Nations pleaded for a truce in Ghouta, which is the only big rebel bastion near the capital.
