Ministry of Fisheries and agriculture has revealed plans of installing an ice plant in Mahibadhoo island of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.
The Fisheries Ministry noted the importance of installing an ice plant in the island as Alifu Dhaalu is the only atoll in Maldives which does not have an ice plant facility till date. The Maldivian Ministry for fisheries estimated the ice plant will be installed in the island within the next four months.
The Ministry has been conducting extensive projects to install ice plants, with the aim to complete the installation of ice plants in all the atolls in Maldives. The Ministry noted the efforts of the government to install ice plants would provide easier access to cold storage services.
The Ministry highlighted the importance of easing the difficulties faced by fishing vessels and said the installation of ice plants across the country would make it easier for the fishing folk to acquire ice while at sea.
