Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee has revealed plans of the administration to export yellow fin tuna products to the United States.
The noted fish prices would be maintained, without much fluctuations, once yellow fin tuna products are directly exported to the United States, the Maldivian Fisheries Minister speaking on a programme aired on PSM news.
Minister Shainee said prices of the product reduces every year during the winter season, highlighting that Maldives exports the highest number of yellow fin tuna to European markets. He said the tremendous efforts of the administration to arrange means to directly export yellowfin tuna to the United States would see positive changes in the prices of the product during winter.
The Minister assured the administration continuously works to expand the fishing sector and to ease the issues faced by the fishing folk in the Maldives.
