The Regional Director of The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Jean Gough has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Asim.
At the meeting, Foreign Minister Asim highlighted the important role of UNICEF in the Maldives since the establishment of its country office in March 1978. Minister Asim also expressed his appreciation for the continued assistance from UNICEF in the area of improving education, well-being of children and women.
The Minister and the Regional Director discussed ways to further strengthen collaboration on child development between the Government of the Maldives and UNICEF. The Regional Director further assured that UNICEF will work closely with, and support the Government in reaching its national development objectives.
