President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has nominated Ahmed Shareef to the Parliament of Maldives as a member of Elections Commission. The nomination has been sent for the reviewing process to Committee on Independent Institutions of the Parliament.
Ahmed Shareef has been serving as the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation since 2016 and had earlier served as a member of the Elections Commission. Ahmed Shareef who had served in the education sector for a long span of time is a former parliamentarian.
The President nominated Ahmed Shareef to the position left vacant following the resignation of former President of Elections Commission Ahmed Sulaiman, who is currently serving as President of the National Integrity Commission.
