6 students gets awarded 1st place in A Level World Top Ten

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham has conferred awards to 6 students who excelled in the A Level examinations 2017 by ranking at the first place of World Top Ten.

In addition, 5 students have attained first place in world top ten in accounting while 1 student attained first place in Business studies. These students were conferred with President's Award and Trophy of Excellence by Education Minister Aishath Shiham.

Furthermore, awards were also conferred to 44 students who attained first place in National Top Ten and President's scholarships were awarded to students who attained A* in 5 subjects. In addition, 4 students were conferred the Edexcel High Achievers Award for attaining the highest marks in separate subjects.

Addressing the Top Achievers' Award Ceremony, Education Minister Aishath Shiham said students who attain higher education have the best odds to develop the nation. In this regard, Minister Aishath Shiham called on all students to always seek for more knowledge to lead a prosperous life.

A total of 1,708 participated in the A Level last year and a total of 187 students were ranked in the national top ten. The pass percentage of A Level students this year has boosted by 64 percent compared to last year, according to Education Ministry.

Under the electoral pledge of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, extensive efforts have been exerted in providing and promoting high-quality education for all Maldivian students to foster economically productive and actively engaged citizens. The administration has brought major revolutionary developments to the education sector over the past four years.
