Superstructure of CMFB to be completed by July 9

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed the superstructure of the China Maldives Friendship Bridge would be completed by July 9.

the last section of high beams required for the superstructure of the bridge is currently in progress, Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu said briefing on the latest updates of the bridge connecting Male' and Hulhule'. The Housing Minister assured the development of the bridge is continuing according to the given timeline.

The Minister expressed hope the bridge would be completed before the Presidential Election scheduled to be held in September of this year. He revealed laying the last section of high beams required for the super structure of the bridge would be completed this week with the superstructure to be completed by July 9.

Minister Muizzu noted the oppositional alliance attempts to tarnish the development plans executed by the administration. However, the Minister emphasised the public has accepted the development projects conducted by the administration. He said under the all-inclusive policy, the administration aims to develop each and every island of the country.

The bridge will cost approximately USD 210 million, of which 94% is provided by the Chinese government, which includes a grant aid of USD 124 million and a soft loan of USD 73.4 million. The remaining USD 12.6 million is provided by the government of Maldives. The bridge is developed by China-based CCCC Second Harbour Engineering Company.
