Higher education opens opportunity for 250 Malaysian scholarships

Department of Higher Education of Maldives has opened application opportunity for 250 scholarships granted by the Government of Malaysia.

The 250 scholarships are part of the 500 scholarships granted by Education Malaysia Global Service (MGS) earlier this year. Application opportunity is open for 200 Bachelor's Degree level scholarships and 50 Master's Degree level scholarships, according to Higher Education Department. A subsidiary payment scheme is adapted for the Master's Degree programmes offered from University Technology Mara and University of Malaya, the Department revealed.

Furthermore, 50 percent of course fee is covered by the Malaysian Government and the rest is covered by the education loan schemes provided by the Maldivian Government. Interested individuals can apply for the scholarships on or before March 15, according to the Department.

Malaysia has been one of the most important development partners for Maldives, especially in the education sector. Providing and promoting high-quality education for all Maldivians to foster economically productive and actively engaged citizens is an electoral pledge of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, with several thousand scholarships made available this year.
