President outperformed expectations: Ambassador Shareef

Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka Mohamed Hussain Shareef has stated that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom performed far beyond expectations by implementing a revolutionising development manifesto. Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef urged the citizens to re-elect President Yameen through free and fair elections this year.

Various local media agencies have delivered statements regarding the current political situation to the international community in unethical and incorrect interpretations and called to refrain from such acts, Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka Mohamed Hussain Shareef stated addressing a rally organised by ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Furthermore, Mohamed Hussain Shareef highlighted that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom would never compromise the Constitution and assured the safety and security of the country would be ensured by the Administration. On this note, the Maldivian Ambassador cited the Administration has been far ahead than previous Governments in all aspects.

"No Government of history of Maldives has taken more concrete steps against terrorism. No Government has ever done what we are doing today to uphold our international obligations. No Government has put us in the forefront of international agenda whether its climate changes or being the chair of AOSIS. We are being projected to the outside world as we deserve," Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef said.

In addition, Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef said President Yameen has emerged as a victorious leader by attaining development far beyond the expectations of all citizens. In this regard, the Ambassador applauded President Yameen for doubling the per capita income of Maldives and noted the country has prospered during the past four years.

"President Yameen is the first leader who has a single minded focus on development. He has a clear vision of delivering his manifesto in unprecedented means. He has gone beyond his manifesto and doubled the per capital income," Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef added.

Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef concluded by echoing the invitation of the Administration to the international community to assess and observe the situation in the Maldives rather than believing the statements issued by the opposition.
