The Government of Malaysia has assured to back the investigation of the attempted judicial coup to overthrow the lawfully elected Government of Maldives.
Maldivian Government has sought assistance from Malaysia as Maldives Police Service has obtained evidence which supports allegations that work related to the attempt to overthrow the Administration was carried out in Malaysia, Spokesperson of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Ali Arif told a press conference. Quoting Maldivian Ambassador to Malaysia Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Ali Arif said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia has assured to gather and share any relevant information with the Administration.
Furthermore, he cited that Malaysia expressed confidence in Maldives to solve the current political issues by dialogue within the country.
