Maldives launches National Patient Safety Committee

The Government of Maldives has established National Patient Safety and Infection Control Committee. The National Patient Safety and Infection Control Committee were inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.

The Committee, comprising of relevant stakeholders and an individual representing the citizens, aims to discuss and examine the challenges faced in health care services and to protect the rights of people on a national level. In reference to the Health Standards published, the Committee will work to establish regulations and monitor whether the rules are followed, according to the Ministry of Health, adding that the Committee will review the services from patients and formulate ways to enhance them.

There are no major development needed in the health sector, other than assessing and enhancing the services, Minister Nazim said addressing the function after inaugurating the committee.
